
Brief History
With great joy, this department was launched in August 2023 with one course, i.e. Diploma in Health Records and IT. In September 2023, the first group was admitted, comprising of 107 students. The trainers were hired on Contract terms but in September 2024, the institution received two Health Records officers to train students permanently.
This is a rapidly growing department, with the College management dedicating lot of resources to Ensure the students complete the course to be competent an registered health record officers.
The vision of the Department
The vision of the department is to produce highly competent and innovative health professionals for the world job market. This vision is attainable, since the right trainers have been employed and proper learning materials availed.
Registration with Health Records Board
The Health Records Board of Kenya is in charge of this course. A number of institutions are registered with this Board to Ensure that quality is adhered to and that proper registration of the graduates is done. The course at Borabu TTI is examined by CDACC examination body. By Sepember 2024, there were talks between CDACC, Health Records Board of Kenya and Borabu TTI to Ensure that the course was fully licenced and recognized so that candidates who graduate are not disadvantaged in the job market. So, very soon the course will be fully registered.
Dual training
To ensure that learners who graduate are familiar with the real health records work at the health facilities, Borabu TTI has signed MOU with nearby hospitals to implement Dual Training. This kind of training involves learners visiting the health facilities (in addition to attending classes) to conduct real practical exercises and to familiarize wit their area. All our oncoming students in Health Records are currently undertaking that dual training and it has greatly enhanced their learning experience.
Course requirements
To take Diploma in Health Records and IT, one must attain at least mean grade of C in KCSE. You must have a minimum of C plain in Biology, Chemistry, English/Kiswahili and Mathematics.
Once you receive admission letter from Borabu TTI, you must come with a smartphone and a calculator. You must also come with closed shoes and a white Dust coat. You will also need books and pens to write.

Industrial Attachment The course requires the students to attend a least one Attachment session. The attachment for Health Records and IT must be undertaken in a health facility with an established Health Records department.
